New platform for managing subscriber data drastically reduces time to market for telecom services

October 21 2009

The latest release of Nokia Siemens Networks’ One-NDS subscriber data management (SDM) platform has been unveiled at SUPERCOMM 2009 in Chicago this week. One-NDS 8.0 enables communications service providers (CSPs) to rapidly and cost-effectively create new personalized services for their customers. The new platform is expected to serve as a catalyst for the development and deployment of new services, enabling telecoms companies to take advantage of new business models.

“For many telcos, the time it takes to get new services rolled out – from concept to launch – is simply too long,” says Paul Magelli, head of Subscriber Data Management, Nokia Siemens Networks. “Because our One-NDS separates the core platform functionality from the applications it supports, innovative new offerings – whether developed in-house or, increasingly, selected from a range of applications partners – can be implemented in a matter of weeks rather than months.”

The latest release of Nokia Siemens Networks’ One-NDS subscriber data repository, allows CSPs to implement new applications and functionality as separate modules, without requiring any changes to the core platform software. As a result, CSPs can quickly respond to changes in the market and introduce personalized services based on customer insights. One-NDS 8.0 builds on the consolidated data approach of previous versions, which lowers network complexity therefore reducing operational and capital costs by up to 55 percent.

New applications can be deployed on top of One-NDS 8.0 to support CSPs’ efforts to improve customer services, as well as billing and charging. Moreover, CSPs can create value for themselves and their customers by better leveraging customer insights supported by One-NDS.
