Russia\'s COMCOR Selects Comptel\'s Convergent Network Inventory Solution

September 20 2006

Comptel Corporation, the leading Operational Support System (OSS) software vendor for convergent mediation, charging, provisioning and network inventory, announced today that Moscow Telecommunications Corporation (COMCOR) has selected Comptel\'s network inventory solution. COMCOR, one of the largest competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) in Russia, will be using Comptel Incatel NIMS initially to handle outside plant, inside plant and logical resources in its network. In a later phase, COMCOR will deploy Comptel\'s inventory as part of the Comptel Fulfilment solution, to automate provisioning of its network and services.

Established in the 1992, COMCOR is a competitive carrier, offering wholesale and retail access and metro area networking (MAN) services. Its initial focus has been on providing competitive service access to government and business customers throughout the Moscow area, one of the world\'s most populated urban areas. As COMCOR\'s business grows, designing network segments and managing network resources, both physical (e.g. fibres, cables and equipment) and logical (e.g. capacity offered by the network), becomes an increasingly complex challenge.

Mr. Fedor Krasnov, CIO of COMCOR says: \"We realised we needed a network inventory solution that was fully convergent including a GIS capability, and was able to handle every aspect of our multi-service network in a seamless way. We also wanted an integrated solution that would allow us in the future to automate provisioning. The convergent Comptel network inventory and the Comptel Fulfilment solution met our requirements.\"

Comptel\'s network inventory solution will be used by COMCOR to model and plan its SDH, IP, and optical last mile network. It will also be used to handle broadband, telematics and CATV services.

Mr. Harri Palviainen, Senior Vice President of Network Inventory Business and Deputy CEO of Comptel Corporation comments: \"We are very pleased that COMCOR has become our first customer in Russia for our network inventory solution. COMCOR is a truly convergent fixed and broadband network operator and a model for other operators worldwide. This project is also significant for us, because reinforces the synergy between Comptel and the network inventory business it acquired through EDB Telecom and its subsidiary Incatel in October 2005.\"
