Comcor upgrades backbone IP-infrastructure

March 05 2006

Alcatel has announced that Comcor, one of the leading service providers in Russia, has upgraded its backbone IP-infrastructure based on Alcatel\'s IP solution. The high performance and reliable platform is built on Alcatel service routers which offer a new wave of services, including Internet access and VPN with the capability to support the most demanding service level agreements.

By implementing the Alcatel IP solution, Comcor has an infrastructure that delivers 10 Gigabit per second Ethernet capacity, which is a significant boost in bandwidth to the existing backbone. Broad functionality and scalability of Alcatel solutions guarantees fast introduction of new types of services and enables the operator to satisfy the growing demand for broadband data services. Carrier class reliability combined with unique quality of service gives Comcor the capability to support the most demanding service level agreements and package tiered service bundles for new IP and Ethernet virtual networking (VPN) services.

\"Upgrading our network is a critical step to increase our company\'s revenues,\" said said Viktor Savyuk, first deputy general director of Comcor. \"Alcatel offers a unique solution that allows us to enrich and strengthen our IP/MPLS infrastructure.\"

\"Comcor understands that in order to be successful, it needs a streamlined service delivery infrastructure that offers more bandwidth, delivered reliably to more customers simultaneously, with increased service level guarantees,\" said Basil Alwan, president of Alcatel\'s IP activities. \"By converging all services over a unified infrastructure based on Alcatel\'s solution, Comcor can build new revenue streams and customer loyalty and defend against other service provider business threats in the highly competitive Russian market.\"

Comcor is using the Alcatel 7750 Service Router (SR) and 5620 Service Aware Manager to create a common efficient service infrastructure allowing the service provider to achieve economies of scale and maximize the profitability of services.

The Alcatel 7750 SR is the industry\'s first service router designed and optimized for the delivery of high performance carrier-grade data, voice and IPTV services.
