Russian IT market booming

Russian Minister for Information Technologies and Communications L.D. Reiman has stated the market of information and communication technologies in 2005 was worth in excess of 1 trln roubles. He said that the market average growth rates were 27 to 40% on 2004, with exports of software in 2005 rising by 50% to reach 994 mln dollars.

 

The Minister commented that the segment\'s growth was fuelled mostly by foreign investments, and the government had to take steps to boost Russian investments into this segment. L.D. Reiman reported also that the 2005 figures show the ICT share in Russia\'s GDP to be 5% compared to 4.8% in 2004.
